The youthful fullness of lips and the upward corners are universally admired and desired. Slow loss of fullness, the downward slope to the angles of the mouth, vertical lip lines (often called “smokers’ lines even when present in non-smokers), the loss of what I have called the “earthworm” that sits on every youthful lip, resulting in loss of the definition of the lip, the loss of definition of the cupid’s bow, the loss of the vertical philtral columns and associated inter-philtral hollow, and the loss of the proportions of the upper and lower lips all conspire to make the lips look not-so-youthful! ​
